'The Extravagant Life of Marie Antoinette'
This collection began as a small series of zines I made in university. After I graduated I moved back to London and got a tricky split-shift job which left me exhausted and artistically blocked. To get my creative juices flowing I decided to digitally redraw my funky little Marie zines.

I am still working on turning this into a full collection that I one day hope to make into a book. In the meantime, I couldn't resist sharing some sneak peeks! Here are a few stand-alone images from key moments in the story, paired with song lyrics that capture my excitement for this project. Enjoy!

'Shmarie Shmantoinette' (2022)

Part of my 'The Extravagant Life of Marie Antoinette' collection. This is a head-piece made with papier-mâché. To make this theatrical creation I built a ridiculous base from taping all of my towels together. I spent a week shaking off post-shower like a dog.
Moony McMagic Face (2022)

This is a papier-mâché head piece. This is a character from one of my old zines. Moony is an mischievous genie that grants wishes with diabolical consequences.

Crochet Man (2021)

Crochet Man is a humanoid amalgamation of some of my crochet pieces. He is scary yet soft.
'Marie Twattoinette' (2022)

This is an elaborate physical depiction of the myth that champagne glasses were moulded from Marie's breasts.

This was during my crochet mask phase. These were inspired by luchador wrestling masks. When my mum and I would go to Brick Lane when I was a kid there was a stall of them, they always looked so glamorous, I loved them.
